Babysitter Responsibilities
Know the family's escape plan. DO NOT CHANGE IT. This will confuse the children.
In case of fire / smoke – get out of the house immediately – DO NOT CALL 911 until you get to the meeting place.
If there is a cell phone available – it should be in the babysitter’s pocket at all times and therefore immediately available at the meeting place, if needed, to dial 911. NOTE: When using a cell phone – you must be able to state the address of the emergency.
At the meeting place stay outside to alert other neighbors that no one is in the burning house.
Do not try to put out the fire. DO NOT look for valuables or pets. You and the children GET OUT IMMEDIATELY!
If smoke is in the house – Remember - Fresher Air is closer to the floor.
If any of your clothes catches fire –
Remember - STOP, DROP and ROLL!!!
